Senior QA Automation Engineer (SDET) – Embedded Finance
We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer (SDET) to join an Embedded Finance product team. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on test automation (~80%) combined with manual end-to-end testing (~20%).
You will design, develop, and maintain E2E automation using Playwright and TypeScript, extend and improve the existing automation framework, and help ensure reliable releases across complex lender, merchant, and checkout integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain E2E automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Extend the automation framework using Page Object Model, custom fixtures, API testing layers, route interception/mocking, and reusable test-data solutions.
• Build and maintain REST API automation and validate integration workflows.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support regression and nightly test execution.
• Investigate test failures using Playwright traces, application logs, API requests/responses, and database data.
• Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with developers to resolve product and automation issues.
• Create risk-based E2E test plans for new lender and merchant integrations.
• Perform hands-on manual testing in sandbox/UAT environments when required.
• Decide which scenarios should be automated and which should remain manual.
• Use AI coding assistants and agents to accelerate test development, code review, debugging, failure investigation, and other QA engineering workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to automation standards and engineering best practices.
Requirements:
• 4+ years of commercial experience in Test Automation / SDET roles.
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript skills.
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or a comparable modern E2E automation framework.
• Experience designing, building, or significantly extending test automation frameworks.
• Strong REST API testing and debugging skills.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience investigating failures using logs, API data, and databases.
• Understanding of SQL and/or MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of test design, E2E testing, and risk-based testing.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
• Good written and spoken English.
Nice to Have:
• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, BNPL, or embedded finance.
• Experience testing checkout flows, embedded widgets, or SDK integrations.
• Azure DevOps experience.
• GCP or similar cloud/logging experience.
• Experience migrating automation from Cypress to Playwright.
• Experience with Figma and/or feature-management tools such as LaunchDarkly.
• Experience with AI agents, MCP, custom prompts, or reusable AI engineering workflows.
